Olmsted Falls Rolls past Brunswick 66-36

The Bulldogs came out of the gates hot thanks to their full court press that would get them a steal and a basket on the first possession of the game.

Offensive rebounds would help them create three-point chances for Paige Kohler. Kohler would score nine points in a blink of an eye as she would hit three threes in the first quarter alone.

Journey Hildebrand would be vital in the first quarter for the Blue Devils as she would score six points for her team. Hildebrand proves to be crafty when driving to the paint, she seems to find a new way to score every time. The first quarter would end with a score of 20-9 in favor of Olmsted Falls.

The Blue Devils would come out of the gates hot thanks to Hildebrand and a team defense that refused to back down early in the second quarter. This would not last long due to the team rebounding ability from the Bulldogs.

The lead would continue to extend in favor of the Bulldogs as Kohler and Mia Kalich would lead their team in points with 15 and 10 respectively in the first half alone. Brunswick only scored once in the last three minutes to play in the half as the flow of the offense was completely shut down. Hildebrand would lead her team in points with 11.

The score at the end of the first half was 42-21 Bulldogs.

The horn sounded to start the second half as Hildebrand would get to the basket for an and one. Lauren Noernberg would respond for the Bulldogs with a quick two-point jump shot.

Brunswick’s strategy would consist of getting to the basket and limit turnovers. This would only do so much as the Bulldogs would still run the floor and force turnovers in transition.

Offensive rebounds would kill the Blue Devils. It seemed as if they could never get off the defensive end of the court. This would remain true as the third quarter ended with a score of 55-32 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The score may not have been close but the duel between Kohler and Hildebrand kept the crowd on their toes. Both ladies have led their teams all year long and this continued here today.

As the clock would wind down it would be the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs that would be victorious as they survive and advance on to the next round. The final score of the contest is 66-36.

Stars of the game are Journey Hildebrand with 24 and Paige Kohler with 20. These two put together a scoring battle like no other, both are underclassman which means we could see this matchup again next year.
