The North Ridgeville Rangers (3-5) earned their 2nd conference victory over the Elyria Pioneers (0-8) 54-39.
Elyria struggled with ball movement all day with 13 turnovers on the afternoon. The Pioneers shot 8/9 from the free throw line. Junior KaMariana Scott led the Pioneers scoring with 17 points. Junior Arabella Sauer and Senior Ava Wahn both finished with six points.
The first half North Ridgeville got out to a 15-point lead thanks and part to 23 points in the 2nd quarter. Elyria opened up the 2nd half on a 6-0 run, but North Ridgeville did very nice job sharing the ball and getting everyone involved. Senior Gabby Thibodeaux lead the offense category with 13 points on the afternoon.
Following suit was Cecilia Bouman with nine points. The Rangers did a lot better from the free point line as well going 6/11. I asked Coach Amy Esser of the North Ridgeville Rangers what the goal is to finish off the calendar year and she said, “to win and build some confidence.”
The Elyria Pioneers will close out 2024 on the road against the Keystone Wildcats December 28th before starting the new year returning home to take on the Berea-Midpark Titans on January 4th and the Fairview Warriors January 6th. For the North Ridgeville Rangers, they will head on the road to start a three-game road trip. Finishing 2024 against the Columbia Raiders on December 30th and then two SWC matchups January 6th and January 8th against Westlake and Midview.
