Per Allison Harbart
The North Olmsted girls varsity soccer team traveled to Cloverleaf to take on the Colts in the second round of the OHSAA state tournament. Even though the Colts were ranked 8th and North Olmsted was ranked 21st in the district, the Eagles were able to beat Cloverleaf 1-0. The lone goal of the game was scored off a free kick taken by senior Lauren Becker. Becker played the ball into the box where it bounced around not touching anyone until it ended up in the back of the net. Both teams had opportunities to score more goals, but nothing more got past either goalkeeper.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, October 26th as they face Medina Highland in the district finals. The game is set to start at 4pm at Brooklyn High School. Tickets for the game can be bought online at www.ohsaa.org/tickets or they can be purchased at the gate. Online and gate prices will be the same, $8 for adults and $5 for students. |
