Rocky River, OH- The North Olmsted Eagles topped the Rocky River Pirates 56-14 Friday night.
The Eagles started off hot in the first quarter. A 74-yd drive set QB Xavier Balson up to connect with WR Collin Willard for an 11-yd touchdown pass.
RB Jared Kelley capitalized from 25-yds out to double the score. Balson called his own number and ran the ball for a 16-yd touchdown to make the score 21-0.
Balson then threw a 71-yd spiral to Willard, and RB Dangerfield took the ball to the end zone a few plays later. The Eagles scored their final touchdown of the half off a fumble recovered by DL Daniel Furdui for a 90-yd touchdown.
The Pirates found the board in the second half after QB Josh Mommers drove the ball on 4th and goal. His 12-yd pass to TE Stan Heuler trimmed the deficit to 35-14 at the end of the third.
Balson connected with WR Nick Tepper in the fourth for a 4-yd touchdown to return the momentum to the Eagles. DB Collin Willard scooped up a Pirates fumble and ran 28-yds to up the lead 49-14.
The Pirates fumbled on the following drive, and DB Matthew Chalkwater closed out the game with a 48-yd touchdown.
The final score read 56-14.
The Player of the Game is North Olmsted’s Collin Willard with 7 catches for 166 yards and 1 receiving TD. He also had a fumble recovery TD for 28 yards.
