North Olmsted Falls to Green 51-41

It did not take long for the highlights to begin in the first quarter of this game.  The starting QB for Green Robby Klockner threw a dart to Zachary Baglia for a 13-yard touchdown to make the score 7-0 in favor of Green with 9:45 left in the first quarter.

North Olmsted received the kickoff and moved the ball down the field in 4 plays and the drive capped off with 7:35 left in the first quarter with a Jared Kelley rushing touchdown from 8 yards out to make the score 7-7.

The Green Bulldogs received the kickoff and ran a WR screen to Antonio Martin and he took it to the house from 64 yards out but it was called back for an illegal block.  The North Olmsted Eagles received the ball back after a Green punt and again quickly moved down the field in 5 plays topped off by North Olmsted’s QB Xavier Balson with a 15-yard run to paydirt to make it 14-7 Eagles.

The Bulldogs then scored on a pass to Baglia from 16 yards out from Klockner to knot the score at 14-14.  The Eagles received the kickoff and again moved swiftly down the field and Balson hit #8 Michael Passafiume for a 15-yard touchdown to make it 21-14 Eagles with 1:12 left in the first quarter.

The second quarter began with Green marching down the field and the drive stalled on the Eagles 32 yard line.  The Bulldogs kicker Eli Norrot missed wide left from 42 yards out and the Eagles took possession after the missed field goal.  The Eagles again methodically moved down the field and scored on 4th and 4 play from the Bulldogs 32-yard line.  The Eagles wideout Collin Willard caught the touchdown pass from Balson and the extra point was missed making the score Eagles 27-14 with 7:01 left in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs moved down the field quickly and on the third play of the drive Klockner found Baglia in the corner of the end zone to make the score Eagles 27 Bulldogs 21 with 2:02 left in the second quarter.
Green moved the ball down the field on a 4 play drive culminating in the 8 yard touchdown pass from Klockner to  WR Antonio Martin.  The extra point was missed and it leaves the score at halftime all tied up at 27.

It is safe to say that the halftime break did not slow down the Eagles offense as they ran a 6 play 72 yard ending with a pass from Balson to Jared Kelley for a 55-yard touchdown pass to make the score Eagles 34 Bulldogs 27 with 10:42 left in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs ensuing 99-yard drive which ended with a 3 yard keeper by the QB Klockner brought the score to 34-34.  The best play of the game up to this point was made on this drive by the Bulldogs Zachary Baglia who caught a screen pass and broke 6 tackles on his way to a 75-yard reception and was tackled on the 3-yard line of the Eagles.

On the next Eagle drive they were forced to punt and the Bulldogs completed a quick 4 play drive with a 2 yard run by Antonio Martin.  The big play from this drive again was made by Baglia who caught a go route for 56 yards.  The extra point was missed which makes the score Bulldogs 40 Eagles 34 at the end of the third quarter.

On the first play of the 4th quarter Jared Kelley scampered 34 yards for an Eagles touchdown and with the extra point it is Eagles 41 Bulldogs 40 with 11:19 left in the 4th quarter.

The Bulldogs next drive stalled at the Eagles 38 yard line with a 4th and 10.  The Bulldogs went for it on 4th and 10th and Klockner found Baglia uncovered on the sideline and he walked in for a 34 yard touchdown his 4th of the game.  The 2 point conversion was good with a pass from Klockner to Antonio Martin to make the game Bulldogs 48 Eagles 41 with 10:06 left in the 4th quarter.   They would hang on to win from there 51-41.

The North Olmsted Eagles Player of the Game is Jared Kelley.  Jared finished with 30 carries and 229 yards as well as 2 catches and 3 total tds.

The Green Bulldogs Player of the Game is Zachary Baglia. Zachary finished with 13 catches 277 yards and 4 tds

The North Olmsted Eagles(0-2) travel to Amherst next week and the Green Bulldogs(2-0) will host Tallmadge.
