Story Written by Chuck Galeti

The first quarter saw Normandy’s defense swarm as senior LB Cam Lash recorded 2 sacks. It was still a scoreless game late in the first half. After back to back offsides by the Tigers gave the Invaders a first down, sophmore QB Elijah Gray would hit Junior Kairo Dillard in the flats and Dillard would do the rest rambling 55 yards for the TD. Extra point good 7-0 Normandy.

They would add a 42 yard field goal at the buzzer from sophomore Neno Illic that would have been good from 50 plus and Normandy lead 10-0 at the half. The second half started with dueling fumbles from Tigers QB Jeremiah Graham and Gray. Graham would rebound in the 4th with a 4th down 30 yard strike to set up Warrensville Hts at the Normandy 2. Senior RB Victorian Ford would punch it in for the TD. 2 point conversion no good and it was 10-6 Invaders with 6 minutes to go.

The Tigers had one more shot and fumbled again on their own 13. That’s when coach Kost pulled out the trick play as Gray would pass to Kairo Dillard behind the line who would find a wide open Curtis Staks for the TD to make it 17-6.

17-6 the final as Normandy now (1-0) heading to Cuyahoga Falls next week. As for Warrensville Hts (0-1) they will take on Gilmour.
