by Cleveland Heights, OH – Coming off a historic 11-1 season in 2025, the Wadsworth Grizzlies looked to start the 2026 season on the right foot on the road at Cleveland Heights. As for the Tigers, night one of the new season was an opportunity to turn the tables after a disappointing 5-6 record in 2025.
From the opening kickoff, the visiting Grizzlies were able to quickly snatch momentum and never looked back in a dominant 28-6 victory.
Wide receiver Jay’len King led the way for the Grizzlies offensively with seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns – one of which being the first touchdown of the season for Wadsworth. King’s stellar performance rightfully earned himself our player of the game honor.
Despite a frustrating night for the Tigers, running back Khalil Al-Almin was able to provide the lone bright spot by putting six points on the board.
The 1-0 Wadsworth Grizzlies will once again be on the road next week as they face off with 1-0 Hilliard Davidson, which should be a highly anticipated matchup.
The 0-1 Cleveland Heights Tigers will go on the road for the first time this season with a Week Two matchup versus the 0-1 Chardon Hilltoppers.
