The peanut-shaped roundabout at Stoney Ridge, Mills & Avalon is NOW OPEN to through traffic. New traffic pattern, please follow the posted signage.
The reason we are being told for the unique peanut shaped size is to improve drivers safety and the traffic flow at the intersection. It is set to open December 27th, and the roundabout has been under construction since September so the drivers have had plenty of time to prepare for it.
This is for a first for residents of Northeast, Ohio. The main goal is always safety, but this should help with efficiency as well. North Ridgeville Mayor Kevin Corcoran has stated in the past that the old design caused accidents and many backups. Conventional thinking and research has been done has confirmed that a roundabout will assist with those complications rather than a traditional intersection with a light.
The City posted this earlier this week, on their Facebook page.
