Moeller Crusaders top St. Ignatius Wildcats 25-10

Parma, OH- The Moeller Crusaders walked off Saturday afternoon’s game against the St. Ignatius Wildcats with a 25-10 win.

Crusader Matthew Seliga intercepted Wildcat QB Joshua Papesh’s pass in the first quarter and ran the ball to the 21-yard line. QB Luke Dunn connected with TE Eli Jacon Duffy for a 4-yard touchdown. A failed two-point conversation tallied the score 6-0 with 5:41 remaining in the quarter.

The Wildcats pounced on the next drive, and Papesh found WR Brandon Webster from 40-yards out. Webster broke through the defensive line to even the score, and the extra point put the home team on top 7-6 to end the quarter.

A 46-yard touchdown pass from Dunn to Duffy in the second quarter kept the Crusaders in the fight. The two-point conversation failed, giving the visitors a 5 point lead.

Dunn kept the fire lit by throwing an 8-yard cylinder to WR Ryan Mechley in the end-zone, but the extra point was no good.

Papesh attempted to close the gap as time ticked down in the second quarter, but a pick by Seliga in the end-zone froze the score 18-7 at the end of the half.

Wildcat K Thomas Kilbane’s 20-yard field goal put the home team within 8 at the end of the third quarter, but the Crusaders ran off with the game in the fourth as Marshall ran the ball for a 20-yard touchdown.

The final score read 25-10 for the Crusaders.

The player of the game is Crusader RB Jordan Marshall. Marshall had 21 carries for 107-yards, 1 catch for 17-yards, and 2 touchdowns.

The Crusaders (8-0) host Lakewood St Edwards next Saturday. The Wildcats (4-3) will travel to St. Xavier.
