Medina Battling Bees Sting Strongsville Mustangs

The Strongsville Mustangs hosted the Medina Battling Bees for their homecoming game.

Within the first minute of the game, Medina QB, Dan Stoddard launched the ball 20 yards to Austin Knowles and he ran for a touchdown. Kicker, Finn Kelps came through with a good extra point. Medina played great defense because they stole the ball back and shortly after, Dylan Whitehill ran another 20 yards for a Bees touchdown. Kelps received another extra point for Medina.

The Mustangs tried hard to catch up but were only throwing incomplete passes. Fortunately, Xavier Belvin gave them a first down at the 30-yard line. Storm Miller gave another first down at the 13-yard line. Michael Marrero ran the ball in for the first Mustang touchdown. The extra point was good with two minutes left. The score of the first quarter was 14-7 Medina Battling Bees.

Strongsville started with the ball and had a complete pass to Will Dasher, but shortly after, they fumbled the ball giving it back to the Bees. Knowles caught a 35-yard pass for a Medina touchdown. Kelps gave them another extra point. It did not take long for the Battling Bees to intercept the ball and take it back from the Mustangs. After many flags, Knowles finally ran the ball for a touchdown and Kelps gave an extra point.

QB Stoddard ran 50 yards for a Bees touchdown. Kelps didn’t let Medina fans down as he scored for the fifth extra point.

Dylan Whitehill ran and gained 15 more yards for unsportsmanlike conduct from Strongsville’s Jerome Williams. Jack Wajciak scored for the Bees and Kelps gave the extra point. The Mustangs had four downs, which gave Nathan Angus a chance to run 30 yards for a touchdown. Of course, the extra point was good.

Hoping to score before the end of the half, Elias Petite ran 55 yards for Strongsville. Unfortunately, they did not score and the half-time score was 49-7 Media Battling Bees.

The third quarter started with a running clock as the Mustangs gave it their all. They had a first down at the 30-yard line, then again at the 50-yard line. QB Harsh Patel threw the ball to Dylan Miller and was caught at the 35-yard line. A pass interference occurred at the endzone, which sent the Mustangs to the 12-yard line on their fourth down. Patel carried the ball to the 3-yard line and inches away, Dylan Miller finally scored the second Mustang touchdown. The extra point was good, making the score 49-14 at the end of the third.

Medina had a first down at the 44-yard line, then carried the ball 56 yards for the touchdown with an extra point.

Tyler Spring ran 20 yards for the Mustangs. Luckily, Patel threw a 15-yard pass to Matt Wilkinson, then Tawfek Dari carried the ball to the 10-yard line. The Mustangs scored one final touchdown and an extra point to end the game.

Congratulations to the Media Battling Bees for their outstanding win, 56-21. We wish the Strongsville Mustangs the best of luck next week as they face Shaker Heights.

Player of the game: Austin Knowles for three touchdowns.
