Kevin McNamara Resigns as Berea-Midpark High School Girls Basketball Head Coach

NORTH OLMSTED – John McDermott who was the head girls coach at North Olmsted from 2014-22 before turning the role over to Nolan Turpin, will return to the Eagles bench this coming season. McDermott who works for North Olmsted city schools has been around the basketball program for years, most recently a part of the boys program.

The McDermott family has been around high school athletics for nearly 50 years and is very well respected in the community.  In fact, North Olmsted Girls Basketball had some of it’s best years with McDermott in charge as they competed in the SWC, GLC and then CWC.

A meeting will be held this Monday at 11am in the North Olmsted Cafeteria for all current and perspective Girls basketball players and their families only to introduce McDermott as the new head coach.  In a letter to the parents, Athletic Director Brett Koch stated, “Coach McDermott brings a wealth of coaching experiences.  We are thrilled to welcome him back and are excited for the leadership and passion he will bring to our program.”

On a personal note I just wanted to say congrats and welcome back to coach John, he has never been anything but great towards myself and associates over the years and I’m happy to see him back! Also, best of luck to coach Turpin who was also great to us.
