by The Lutheran West Longhorns hosted the West Geauga Wolverines in week 8. The Wolverines started with a first down at the 33-yard line. Quarterback, Finn Keenan had another first down at the 41-yard line and then a complete pass to Andrew Marino at the 25-yard line. An incomplete pass was thrown in the endzone but was blocked by Lutheran West. Both teams played defense well, as they both fought for possession of the ball. The score of the first quarter was 0-0.
The second quarter started with a Longhorn first down at the Wolverines 20-yard line. Da’Quarius Bradley ran 35 yards, which followed another Lutheran West 15-yard carry. Ten yards from a touchdown, the Longhorns took a time out to come up with a plan to score. Quarterback, Jalany Theodore scored the first touchdown of the game. The extra point was no good.
Marino carried the ball 15 yards for the Wolverines and Nasir Levy carried another 10 yards right after. The Wolverines tried hard to tie the score before the end of the half but couldn’t.
The Wolverines started with the ball in the third quarter, but shortly after, a perfect pass was intercepted by Bradley. Bradley carried the ball back-to-back times, and Jayden Theodore caught an outstanding pass. However, it was their fourth down at the 13-yard line and the ball was back in the Wolverine’s hands. Both teams turned over the ball frequently during the rest of the quarter, with the same 6-0 score.
The Longhorns started with the ball in the fourth, and Jayden Theodore received a first down at the 25-yard line. He caught a complete pass in the endzone for another touchdown but the extra conversion point was incomplete.
The Wolverines tried hard to move the ball down the field but had no luck. On their last down, Jamyan Theodore had a great defensive block, turning it back to the Longhorns. Kendrick Broddie carried 30 yards as Lutheran West tried for another touchdown with 1:30 left in the game. Unfortunately, they were unable to score before the end.
The final score of the game was 12-0 Lutheran West Longhorns. Both teams played well, but it was a great win for the Longhorns’ senior night!
