Levi Ellis Refused to Go Down as Elyria Catholic Wins Big Over Fairview

ELYRIA, OH – The scoring started early for Elyria Catholic versus Farview as just three minutes into the game Levi Ellis took the handoff and went 18 yards to the endzone making it 7-0 Panthers.

A quick punt by Fairview would give the Panthers the ball back at their own 13-yard-line. Just five plays later Hector Garcia found Brady Cook on a screen pass and he would take it 80 yards to the house making it 14-0.

Brady Cook wasn’t done on the night. This time he lined up at quarterback and kept the ball. The 35-yard scamper was his second score of the game. The route was on as Elyria Catholic found themselves up 21 with 9:53 left in the second quarter.

The Panthers defense would again hold strong and force a punt. The offense took the field and hit pay dirt again. Garcia hit Mason Haliburton on a quick slant and Haliburton would do the rest. The Panthers were cruising 28-0 after the 33-yard TD.

Just a few minutes later the Panthers blocked a punt giving them great field position at the 45-yard line. Just two plays later, Levi Ellis went back to work on the ground. His 42-yard rushing touchdown put the Panther up 35-0.

Ellis wasn’t done scoring in the first half. After an interception by Anthony DeMartinis gave the Panthers the ball at the 32-yard line with just 1:44 left in the half, Ellis would take it 32 yards on the first play for his third score of the half. The run by Ellis gave him over 4,000 yards in his career and moved him to third on the Elyria Catholic all-time rushing yards list.

The Panthers led 42-0 at halftime.

The Warriors began the second half with a promising drive behind the legs of Xavier DiGennaro and Cole Karliak. A score did not come to fruition though.

The Warriors defense stood tall early in the half and forced a fumble. Despite the excellent field position, Fairview managed to cough up the football themselves.

A back and forth third quarter would lead to no scoring by either team. The Panthers still held a 42-0 lead.

The Warriors would finally get on the board thanks to freshman quarterback Burke Lowry. Lowry found Nolan Reis for a 21-yard score.

Elyria Catholic would give their linemen some carries and the clock would run out giving the Panthers a 42-7 win over the Warriors.
