Both teams came in today fighting for something, Bowling Green needed a win to stay in the MAC East title hunt and secure a bowl while Kent needs to win out to get to a bowl game. Kent State secured a 40-6 win and are a step closer to achieving bowl eligibility while Bowling Green will have to test their luck next week against Toledo

The first quarter was a back-and-forth defensive battle where both teams made plays on defense and came up big. Both offenses failed to capitalize on their defensive efforts in a first quarter that ended with zeros on the score board.

Bowling Green fumbled on the first play of the game; Kent State was knocking on the redzone but failed to move the ball. They attempted a field goal, a miss gave the Falcons the ball. The theme of Kent State getting in the redzone and failing continued as the game headed to the second quarter.

Kent State had a possession on Bowling Greens 14 yard as it took them one play in the second quarter to take the lead from a pass from Collin Schlee to big time running back Bryan Bradford.

Things got better for the Flashes while the Falcons could never get things started up on offense.  Kent State stayed hot as they were flash fast scoring two more times in the second quarter jumping ahead of Bowling Green 20 to nothing. The Falcons had a chance at a long field goal, but it landed short.

Kent States lead was protected as they went into the locker room for half as they got the ball back to start the second half of play. Bowling Greens hopes of going to the MAC championship game came down to 2 quarters of football.

The second half had the same feel as the first thanks to two turnovers on downs for both teams in their opening drives. Kent State stopped Bowling Green due to a fake punt attempt that didn’t go according to plan.

Kent State took advantage as they extended their lead by three with a chip shot field goal. Bowling Green finally put together a complete drive thanks to a 24-yard pass from McDonald to Tyrone Broden. This gave the Falcons some life but not enough.

As the third quarter ended It appeared as if the Falcons would cut the lead down but failed to do so after a interception on third and long. The Flashes continued to dominate as Schlee continued his fantastic day as he connected with his favorite option Devontez Walker for their second combined touchdown.

Kent State ran away with the ball game thanks to a pick six that sealed things for the Flashes. Bowling Green was killed by sacks and penalties the entire game; it prevented them from ever getting into a rhythm as Kent slowly ran away with it.
