The undefeated Avon Eagles welcomed the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees to Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet Stadium for this second-round playoff matchup. The Eagles continued to prove why they are one of the most dangerous teams in Division II, winning by a final of 49-7. Avon got another outstanding performance from their all-time leading rusher Jakorian Caffey, as he ran for 4 touchdowns and 173 yards.
The Bees started this game off with a methodic 11-play touchdown drive. Colin Seibert capped the drive off with a touchdown on a quarterback sneak to put the Bees up 7-0. The Eagles looked to respond right back but would be faced with a crucial fourth down from the Bees 14-yard line. Eagles quarterback Nolan Good would come through, finding Matt Maxey open for a 14-yard touchdown.
Early in the second quarter, a muffed punt by the Bees would set the Eagles up with great field position. The Eagles took advantage of the miscue, as senior running back Jakorian Caffey scored from 22 yards out for his first rushing touchdown of the day. Avon took a 14-7 lead. After the Bees turned it over on downs on their next drive, Caffey struck again. This time the University of Cincinnati commit outran and shrugged off defenders for an incredible 73-yard touchdown run.
Right before halftime Caffey added his third rushing touchdown. This time from 8 yards out to extend the Eagles lead to 28-7. Caffey finished the first half with 8 carries for 118 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. After going down 7-0, Avon scored 28 consecutive points to close the first half.
In the third quarter Jakorian Caffey picked up right where he left off, breaking free for a 54-yard run. Later that same drive, Caffey scored his fourth touchdown to put the Eagles up 35-7. On the next Bees drive Colin Seibert was intercepted by Connor Rowlison of the Eagles. After allowing a touchdown on the opening drive, the Eagles defense did not give up another point. Avon then extended their lead to 42-7 on a 13-yard touchdown run by Cam Wendell.
Eagles sophomore backup quarterback Blake Elder would get a chance to play in the fourth quarter. Elder’s first and only pass was a screen to Paul Lefrict that went 54 yards for an Eagles touchdown to make the score 49-7. Avon improved to 12-0 now on the season. Brecksville-Broadview Heights season comes to end at 6-6.
