Is It Time For AEW To Start A Cruiserweight Division?

Is AEW on the verge of a Cruiserweight Division? It’s an honest question when you step back and really look at it.  It’s also totally possible not only with the talent already on the roster, but the influx of talent about to arrive that was recently let go from the WWE.

AEW has already shown they can build a successful division with homegrown talent, former WWE and Impact Talent as well as top talent from the Indy scene.  They have built a tremendous Tag Division, perhaps one of the greatest of all time.  The TNT Championship has been a nice secondary belt as well.

Perhaps the greatest strength they have is men like Chris Jericho on the roster, and Dean Malenko in the office to further train and coach these young Superstars.  As you recall, Jericho and Malenko are two of the greatest cruiserweights of all time.

Below is a list of Superstars both already on the roster, and some recent cuts from WWE that I could see showing up and making their mark in the division as well. Even if 5 from both groups make the jump to Cruiserweight full time, that is more than enough to get the division hopping and heading towards the right direction for many more years to come.

Four of the biggest rising stars in AEW right now are Cruiserweights with Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy and Jungle Boy Jack Perry. Pac as Neville, was the best cruiserweight the WWE had since Rey Mysterio.  Shawn Spears can drop down to 205 if he had too and men like Matt Sydal and Marko Stunt are already there.

For a full listing of current AEW stars who could jumpstart the division along with possible WWE arrivals, see below.
