Hot Takes From Tonights Episode Of The Bachelorette

Another heated and quite entertaining episode of The Bachelorette is in the books.  Who stood out and who went home unexpected?  Who still has a chance and what underdog became a favorite?  Let’s get right to it!

Ivan The Underdog

I went on record a few weeks back and named Ivan as the underdog you needed to watch.  After this week, I’m not real sure how much of an underdog he is anymore.  He really let his guard down and showed his true emotions and history on his alone date with Tayshia.

That was the smartest thing he could do and it really moved her as well.  It was hard not to enjoy this scene as both of them needed to get things off their chest about who are they are and what they have dealt with.

This was a make it or break it date for Ivan, and he made it!  I had him going to the final six as the underdog and after this episode, he may crack the final five.  Time will tell soon enough but this was a great week for Ivan The Underdog.

Did Bennett finally start taking this show as a real-life romance?

For weeks I wondered why Bennett would have signed up for this show.  He didn’t seem to take much serious and appeared as if he was just trying to kill time during COVID 19.  That all changed this week as he dipped into a bit of his past as well.  He almost became emotional talking about his parents and also past engagement.

Perhaps the best scene of the night was him telling off Noah after the rest of the Cocktail party got cancelled. It really felt like a supervisor or even store manager laying into a High School Clerk working part time one night a week.  The entire ordeal seemed legit and painted Noah in a very bad light.

How are Blake and Ed still on the show?

I don’t know about any of you, but there’s something about Ed and Blake that remind me of Schmidt from “The New Girl”.  With the sole exception that Schmidt was absolutely hilarious and one of the best characters in sitcom history, while these two just come across as strange.  Blake creeps me out while Ed may be the fakest tough guy this show has ever seen.

Chassen gets sent packing!

I don’t have much to say on this one other than I didn’t see this coming for a while.  Tayshia can see right through people and clearly figured him out quicker than I thought she would, but glad she did.  The guy was a total idiot as in anyone who would refer to someone of her beauty as a “smoke show”.

Did Ben do the right thing?

Heck yes, he did.  Genius move by Ben to visit her late and also provide that night cap.  Clever, romantic and bold.  He punched his ticket to another week. It’s clear, those are the things she likes!

Brendan is the clear favorite!

In a week where Brendan was barely on the show for more than 30 seconds, he once again stole the show and gave everyone something to think about.  It is crystal clear there is something special there and she is truly falling for him.  A blind man could tell that they missed each other and he is really going to have to do something stupid to screw this up.

While guys like Noah, Spencer, Easz, Ed and a few others treat this as a game they are trying to win, it is guys like Brendan, Ivan and Ben that are making serious strides.  I’m shocked that Zach didn’t creep her out but I have to believe they are going to focus more in on that story next week.
