Holy Name’s Big Three Combine for 56 to Win 70-50 Over City Rivals Normandy

Parma, OH- Holy Name leaves The Invader Dome with a big 70-50 win behind 56 points from the big three of Max Bollin, Adam Humenik, and Drew Styers along with 6 other scorers.

The first quarter started off quick for the Invaders. Tommy Krilosky drove to the rim and was fouled and proceeded to sink the free throw. Normandy couldn’t have asked for a better start as they led 3-0. He would proceed to earn 4 more points by scoring on two hard fought drives to the hoop. This led to an early Normandy lead that never exceeded 1 possession. Holy Name held their own as the big 3 would combine for all 15 of the Green Wave’s first quarter points. Three 3’s fell as Bollin hit 1 and Humenik the other 2. Drew Styers added 4 points to the scoreboard as well. For Normandy, Alex Rivera, Curt Long, Eli Gray, and Kallen Pottinger all added field goals. One major storyline of this game was the return of Pottinger against his former team. He left Holy Name at the halfway point of his sophomore year and went to Parma for a year and a half. Following the Redmen closing, he now sports the orange, black, and white of Normandy. For Gray, this game was an opportunity to avenge the 21-20 loss to Holy Name in football on September 29. However, the honors were even at 15 going into the second.

The second quarter of this contest served as the turning point for Holy Name. Holy Name began the quarter with a 7-2 run, but this was only the start. With the score 22-17, Holy Name would record their first kill shot of the night. This kill shot was good for 11 straight points. The score was now 33-17 with the Green Wave having gone on an 18-2 run to start the second. This charge was led by the big 3 along with a triple from Christian Camargo along with Collin Hall Johnson’s first varsity bucket. For the Invaders, it was a solo effort by Krilosky who posted all 9 of Normandy’s second quarter points. This led to a 39-24 lead for the Namers heading into the locker room.

The third quarter began more balanced for each side. Normandy arguably came out of the half looking crisper and controlling of possession. With the score at 47-32, Holy Name proceeded to go on a 12-2 run. This impressive run was aided by Aidan Butler’s long awaited first varsity bucket for Holy Name. This gave Holy Name a 59-34 lead heading into the final frame.

Normandy came into the fourth quarter looking solid. Overall, in this quarter, they outscored the Green Wave 16-11. This was led by Pottinger posting 8 points. This was good enough for him to bury 15 points overall on the night. He usually gravitates towards 15 against the Green Wave and he did it once again even in new colors this season. Beyond this, Krilosky posted 5 points of his own to take his tally to 22 points on the night. This was good enough for second overall behind Holy Name’s Styers. Finally, Danny Stibley posted his first varsity point of the season and Rovin Sanchez becomes the first member of the class of 2026 at Holy Name to post varsity minutes and points. This led to the final score of 70-50 in favor of Holy Name.

Holy Name plays again tomorrow afternoon against Gilmour at 12:30 PM while Normandy travels to Buckeye on December 19.
