Holy Name Takes Home the First Win of the Season Against North Olmsted

The Holy Name Green Wave hosted the North Olmsted Eagles as both teams hoped to take home their first win of the season. 

North Olmsted started with the ball but quickly turned it over to Holy Name and it did not take long for Holy Name to do the same thing. In the first five minutes, both teams struggled to move the ball past their 30-yard lines due to great defense. The first quarter score remained 0-0. 

Quarterback Andrew Cole from Holy Name launched a 35-yard pass to Jawan Bryant, which took them to the 6-yard line. Cole threw another complete pass to Nicholas Nemeth for the first touchdown of the night. Chase Jozity scored the extra point. 

It did not take long for North Olmsted quarterback, Tommy Horsfall, to run 15 yards, to the 43-yard line. Michael Passafiume carried the ball to the 27-yard line. Horsfall threw a complete pass to Brady Haug for the Eagles’ first touchdown with a good extra point. The ball was turned over back to the Eagles, and Haug caught another 30-yard pass for a touchdown with a completed extra point. 

Holy Name struggled to get the ball down the field, with three incomplete passes and a tackle, which caused a turnover to the Eagles. Horsfall threw a complete pass to Haug at the 30-yard line, then he rushed the ball to the 20-yard line. Passafiume ran the ball in for another Eagles touchdown, but the extra point was no good. 

Holy Name turned the ball over and gave Haug a 20-yard carry for North Olmsted. William Dix Jr. from Holy Name intercepted a pass and ran 70 yards for a Holy Name touchdown with one minute left in the first half. Jozity scored the extra point, which caused the score of the first half to be 20-14 Eagles. 

Dix Jr. started the second half with a 20-yard run but was stopped by a flock of Eagles for a first down. Cole threw a complete 10-yard pass to Collin Doskocz. Cole passed again to Bryant for a touchdown but was incomplete. Dix Jr. ran the ball in for a touchdown which tied the game and Jozity scored another extra point to put the Namers ahead 21-20. 

North Olmsted fumbled the ensuing kickoff, which led to another Namer touchdown, and a 28-20 lead for the Green Wave.  

The ball was fumbled again to Holy Name. Cole Launched the ball 40 yards to Bryant which was incomplete but a flag on the field gave them 15 yards. Dix Jr. was stopped at the 19-yard line for a first down. QB Andrew Cole ran the ball in for the third Holy Name touchdown in the third quarter. The extra point was good, and the score of the score was now 35-20 Holy Name. 

North Olmsted tried to catch up but the pass was intercepted by Holy Name who  scored another touchdown and extra point. 

A little later for Holy Name, Cole threw the ball 20 yards, but it was intercepted by Lawrence Stanley from North Olmsted. Kurtz threw a complete pass to Stanley for the first down at the 50-yard line. Passafiume carried the ball to the 20-yard line, then again to the 5-yard line. Haug ran it in for a touchdown with one minute left. The Eagles tried for a 2-point conversion, but it was intercepted. 

The final score was 42-26 Holy Name. The Namers brought home the first win of the season on senior night.

Players of the game: Brady Haug for scoring three touchdowns for North Olmsted. William DIx Jr. for a 70-yard run and scoring two touchdowns for Holy Name.
