MEDINA, OH – Holy Name wasted no time taking control, earning a dominant win over Buckeye in a girls lacrosse matchup that was never really close.
The Green Wave came out strong right from the start, setting the tone early and not letting up. By the end of the first quarter, Holy Name had a 5-0 lead, showing early on that they were going to be difficult for Buckeye to stop.
That momentum carried straight into the second quarter. This quarter was not as explosive as the first, but they still outscored the Bucks. They had two goals during the quarter, heading into halftime with a comfortable 7-0 advantage. The Green Wave showed that they were in complete control on both ends of the field.
The second half did not change at all. Holy Name kept the pressure on in the third quarter, putting together its biggest scoring stretch of the game. The Green Wave extended their lead to 14-1, scoring seven goals in the quarter. They continued to find success offensively while limiting Buckeye’s chances.
The Bucks were able to get on board with a goal from #5 Mya Galdun. Holy Name quickly responded and kept things in their favor.
Many players contributed to the scoring effort for Holy Name. #23 Claire Wisniewski had an amazing performance, scoring six total goals on the night, dominating the Buckeye defense. She was tonight’s player of the game. #12 Kate Simon and #14 Katie Vuong both had three goals on the night, helping the Green Wave stay in control.
#44 Kendyl Estep had a strong performance, scoring multiple times throughout the game. #20 Lily Kinsley and #22 Marlyn Rott both had a goal, showing the Bucks that the Green Wave has talent everywhere.
By the fourth quarter, the outcome wasn’t really in question anymore. Holy Name added two more goals to bring the total to sixteen, while Buckeye was held to just the one.
Overall, it was a complete performance from the Green Wave. The offense was dominant, the defense held strong, and the team controlled the pace from beginning to end.
