Unsung Hero’s
Kayla Ferancy of Amherst,
Lucy Bisson of Bay
Chelsae Evanich of Marlington
This award goes to players that may have not dominated the headlines at times, it may have been the team record, the team location or the fact that they played with a fellow superstar, but these 3 are headed to huge places at the next level.
Bisson was the total package and did anything you asked of her. Too many times Bay gets overlooked in the GLC and Northeast Ohio basketball in general. This was the case this year as Bisson was the total package and a joy to watch compete.
If Chelsea Evanich played in the SWC, GLC or GCC, let alone one of the private schools, she’d be a household name in this area of the state. She is the real deal, and the fact that she is not playing at a DI college next year, is an absolute joke.
Evanich put on a clinic her two days playing in the Rocky River holiday tournament this past year over Christmas break. In a gym that saw incredible performances by Grace Kingery and Ava Patti over that same week, Evanich was every bit as sensational and remarkable to watch play. I’m telling you, go on huddle and look at what I’m talking about. Trust me!
Kayla Ferancy will forever be one of the best student athletes to come out of Amherst at either gender, in any sport. This kid is a STUD! I knew it from the first time I saw her play as a freshman and she just kept getting better. I’m going to miss covering her, and the fans are going to miss cheering for her. Ferancy was the picture of consistency and the driving force behind many Comet wins.
Good luck to these ladies, and remember what I said, headlines don’t mean nearly as much as people think, and neither do box scores. I was honored to cover all 3 of you!
