The Blazers (4-1) took a hard-fought victory Saturday from a game CVCA Royals squad 11-4 at The Wolf Field. HB hung on to a slim 3-1 halftime lead despite generating 17 caused turnovers and winning 19 ground balls over the course of the contest.Senior goalkeeper Allie Beros had a lonely first half seeing only one shot. Junior midfielder Emily Morgan had a remarkable 9 draw controls along with 5 caused turnovers and 4 ground balls. She also led the scoring with six goals and an assist.Sophomore attacker Eliza Taigen had her second consecutive hat trick. Freshman midfielder Caroline Morgan added a goal and senior attacker Cate Cowger-Wesley notched her first goal of the season on a beautifully-placed 8 meter shot. Sophomore goalie Charlotte Kleid recorded a save in finishing the game between the pipes.
CVCA (2-3) goalie Megan Marshall, a D1 commit to Liberty University, was spectacular in the cage for the Royals making 12 saves.
Next up for the Blazers is a trip to Hudson for a first-ever meeting with Western Reserve Academy (5-0). Game time is 5:00pm.
