Green Waves outlast the Patriots in Battle of Parma Heights

The Green Waves, 4-2, overcame the Patriots, 4-3, 21-14.

Holy Name won the toss and chose to defer to the second half. The Patriots secured one first down on their opening drive but were stymied by the Green Wave defense and forced to punt.

Green Wave QB Jayvon Williams got the ball moving at the end of the first quarter with a 57-yard pass to WR Joey Ragone. Williams ticked the first touchdown of the game for the home team with a 12-yard dash into the end-zone.

Patriots K Riley Hein trimmed the score with a 22-yard field goal to put 3 on the board, but Green Wave rallied on the next drive as RB Kriztion Sanchez’s 1-yard plunge upped the score 14-3.

Hein put the ball through the uprights from 38 yards to round out the first half 14-6.

The Patriots hit their stride in the third quarter. Quarterback Dan Kiewel called his own number for an 8-yard touchdown, and a two point conversion tied the game 14-14.

Williams stole the show on the following drive. He carried the ball 6 times and ran a 13-yard touchdown to give the Green Wave a 21-14 edge with 5:14 remaining in the third quarter
