A team with a legacy of legendary Linebackers may have drafted another one Thursday night. The fact that Patrick Queen dropped to them at 28 is a total gift. A guy that talented, that late in the first round going to a team of that caliber, is like re-loading a powerful gun.
JK Dobbins will be a huge addition to the passing game out of the backfield to help Lamar Jackson pick up the short yardage when needed. Also moving Dobbins into the slot in a spread offense could work wonders.
What Dobbins does best however is run the ball. Don’t be surprised if he un-seats Ingram by week 8 as the main back. Ingram and Jackson are friends and did well together, but with a genius like John Harbaugh calling the plays, I would look for Dobbins to be the guy when the games begin to count the most.
This team had 10 draft picks, including 6 in the first 100 picks. That is almost unheard of, and they continued to cash in on that luxury by taking the best available. This was proven with Justin Madubuike, a DT out of Texas A&M taken in the third round. This was quickly followed up Devin Duvernay, a receiver out of Texas, giving Jackson yet another threat.
They weren’t done yet however, their 3rd of 4 3rd round picks was the man many Browns and Buckeye fans wanted coming to Cleveland, Malik Harrison. The selection of Harrison may come back to haunt Browns fans for many years as they passed up on him twice in the third round themselves. Harrison is a beast and won’t waste anytime helping out this once stripped defense.
Their 10th and final pick, was safety Geno Stone out of Iowa. A man I actually had ranked 5th on my big board for safeties. He may not be the next Ed Reed, but if healthy, he could be a solid starter for the next decade.
