This game recap is brought to you by Sponsors – KEE On Sports Media Group

High School football is back this week in the state of Ohio! And to kickoff the season I was at Firestone vs Kent Roosevelt, with a complete dominance of Kent Roosevelt.

Kent Roosevelt wins this season opener by a final score of 35 to 6. With a complete dominating performance by Donovan Daetwyler. Daetwyler scored four touchdowns tonight in this 2022 season opener. With two rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown, and a pick six to cap off the night. Daetwyler was the star of this game.

The other player of the game for Kent Roosevelt who had a dominant game was Marcus Boyd, he was all over the place on the defensive side of the play, most tackle plays had him involved. With Boyd after most plays, celebrating. His energy was infectious on the defense.

Firestone started out the game with an early touchdown being up 6-0, with a rushing touchdown scored by quarterback Prince Winchester. Winchester was the best player of the game for Firestone. The team’s lone bright star of the game. However Winchester did not return after the half after getting into a verbal altercation with a fellow teammate.

The offense for Firestone could never get it going after Winchester’s touchdown. Whether it was fumbles or interceptions thrown by multiple quarterbacks.  This was a total domination by Roosevelt and more specifically Daetwyler.

After the first touchdown by Firestone, Roosevelt and Daetwyler turned it on for the remainder of the game. The Daetwyler performance tonight left the fans and coaches in total disbelief. He was the heart and soul of the game tonight, every big play for Roosevelt minus their last touchdown, which was scored by Cameron Dent late in the fourth quarter. Daetwyler was the team tonight.

Kent Roosevelt did come into this game with an interesting strategy, which I have not seen before yet played in a game. They played three quarterbacks today. The starter of the game was Matt McCann, Yahntae Smith, and Daetwyler.

This is an interesting strategy for Roosevelt’s head coach Alan Vanderink who is entering his fourth season coaching at Roosevelt, this interesting strategy ended up paying off. With McCann throwing one touchdown pass, which was caught by Daetwyler. This was an unbelievable catch by Daetwyler.

All in all this was a great start for Roosevelt, their game plan going forward the rest of the season should be to just give the ball to Daetwyler and let him take over.

For Firestone, they need to fix their offense. Whether it was false starts or turnover they could just never get it going tonight. They have time to improve upon this absolute beat down, but this is not how you want to start a season.

But overall the star of tonight was Daetwyler, people need to watch it for him as he showed a lot of flash tonight, which can lead him to have a big senior season.
