Cold Pizza With Vince McKee – Stop The Hate Edition

It is that time again for everyone’s favorite weekly guilty pleasure, Cold Pizza with Vince McKee. This week we have our takes on the AAF folding. We pose the question if Spring is the best sports season?

Also, a rest for LeBron being the best thing to have happened to him as well as if the WWE & MMA performers should have health insurance? We also take on everyone’s unpleasant pain in the backside, Colin Cowherd.  Let’s get right to it as it is time to grab a slice!

Haters are going to hate: It is sad that we live in a world with such hatred in it. When is it going to end? How many more school shootings, and mass murders do we need before people decide to knock it off already.

If you have ever held your small child or any small child in your arms, how could you have hate in your heart? If you’ve ever seen a loved one die in front of your eyes, how could you hate anyone?

In my career I’ve dealt with small amounts of hate. For the most part I’ve let it go but you get the occasional idiot who just won’t quit. People love to try and take down someone they see as successful. It doesn’t matter if it is bitterness in their own lives, jealousy, whatever the case may be, they just can’t let it go.

Case in point, in can be something simple. A few months back I met one of my favorite sports writers, Tom Withers. Took a picture with him and when I posted it to Facebook my phone auto corrected it to Weathers. Something so simple.

Two seconds later, I was live on air calling the Westlake vs Avon Lake basketball game. I didn’t have time to fix it until I got home. But it didn’t stop keyboard tough guys from sending me messages calling me a joke because “I” screwed up the last name on the post for two hours.

This was a minor case and I blew it off. Then seven days ago, we had ourselves another case of hate. This one much more major. Some yahoo thought it would be funny to start leaving comments on my articles and other articles making fun of me and my writers. Again, hate for the point of hate.

At first, I was fine just letting it go, until this person starting making mention of where I went to church, my children and calling me a bad father. He/She also mentioned how I needed to take my African American writers to the zoo. They went as far as to attack the sponsors as well.

That is when silliness goes to pure sickness. I know, and anyone who puts themselves in any public forum knows, people have the right to react however they see fit. But when does that right go to far?

Athletes deal with it all the time. Look at what is going on right now with Baker Mayfield and Colin Cowherd. Baker can’t do anything without the shock jock saying something to cause an argument. His latest is that OBJ doesn’t want to play in Cleveland, calling our QB and GM cocky.

While it seems as though Cowherd is doing this out of pure hate, he may actually be doing the Browns a huge favor. It is proven that Baker Mayfield plays his best with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. The more he talks, the better Mayfield will play.

The bottom line in all of this is that not everyone is an expert on everything. It is much easier to sit behind a keyboard or a microphone and flex your muscles then on a field, ring or court. People use hate to fill a void in their own insignificant lives. A true shame. In todays world of mass social media, it doesn’t take long for hate filled words to go viral.
