Cold Pizza: Are You Concerned About A Missing OBJ?

Someone recently asked me, “Are you concerned that Odell Beckam Jr isn’t at volunteer mini camp?”

My short answer to that question was no, my long answer to that question was “heck no!”

Honestly, who cares! After the next bargaining agreement goes into place, these pointless mini camps won’t even exist.  Think of it like this, would you expect every single Indians player to show up in December for a “volunteer batting practice?”  No, you wouldn’t.

If OBJ is there bright and early when the real training camp starts in July, that is all that matters. Would it be nice for him to be there and get familiarity with his new teammates, sure, but at the end of the day, they are all pros!

Yikes, how was that for a run on sentence? Speaking of running, I’m positive all the things that made OBJ one of the best players in the game will still exist despite what he does with his April. As a matter of fact, it is a pretty safe bet he is somewhere training on his own.

You don’t become one of the top athletes in the world without training year round.  He is somewhere running, lifting and catching balls daily, even if it isn’t Berea.

In the last 90 days, OBJ the human being has been ripped from is home, had one of his closest friends pass away, and hasn’t complained once. He is simply doing what he does, and when the time counts he will be here.

Enjoy your spring, because summer and training camp will be here soon enough and then it is on!
