Clyde Stumps Start in Week 4, 44-0

In the last matchup between the Clyde Fliers and Start Spartans, the Fliers defeated the Spartans with a finish of 42-14. This season, Clyde (2-1) and Start (0-3) both graduated large pieces to their lineup. Last week, both teams experienced a loss. Clyde fell to Norwayne and Start fell to St. Francis De Sales. For Week 4, Clyde traveled to Roy C. Start Stadium for their first away game of the season. The Flyers took control of the game early on and their didn’t allow a single point out of the Spartans.

QUARTER 1
Clyde put up six on their first drive by Jayvin Sheffield on a running touchdown. The Fliers took up almost 5 minutes in the first quarter, establishing control of the game early on. The extra point was no good. The Spartans first drive made it to fourth and goal but Clyde’s defense responded and forced a turnover.

QUARTER 2
The Fliers benefited off of a 98 yard drive with a touchdown pass to Brayden Olson. Clyde’s defense forced a quick punt and took the ball all the way to the endzone. Clyde’s Quarterback Abe Morrison completed a touchdown run. With the extra point, secured a 20 point lead with five minutes left in the first half.

Spartan’s looked for another chance to score, but PreAire McDonald’s pass was picked off by Morrison. Clyde drove down the field and finished with a pass to Ben Watt who ran 25 yards to the endzone. Start was forced to a quick 4th down and Clyde gained possession. The Fliers ended the quarter with a 42 yard field goal, resulting in 30-0 lead at the half.

QUARTER 3
A running clock was issued at the second half of the game. The Fliers took the ball down the field. The scoring drive ended as Ben Watt caught a 30 yard touchdown pass. The Spartans struggled with various unforced errors, which resulted in another scoreless quarter.

QUARTER 4
Clyde started off the final quarter with a touchdown run by Kam Shortridge.

The Fliers advanced to 3-1 and Start fell 0-4.

Player of the game: Clyde’s Abe Morrison with four touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown. Has tallied over 500 yards on the season so far.

Next week Start will host Bellevue and Clyde will host Scott.
