Cavs Extend Win Streak Against The Spurs

The 37-22 Cavs look to extend their six-game winning streak against the 14-43 San Antonio Spurs, who are the 14th seed in the western conference. 

The Cavs coming into the game have been on the hottest stretch of the season since the 8-1s start back in November. 

The Cavs came out early in this game and dominated at the start of the game. The Spurs, coached by Greg Popoivch battled back and cut the Cavs’ lead to six at one point. With the Cavs pulling away. Winning by a final of 117-109 for the team’s 38th win of the season and now extending the streak to seven wins. 

The stand-out star for the Cavs was their all-star starter Donovan Mitchell scoring 41 points. Making six three-pointers in the 41-point effort. 

Jarrett Allen scored second on the team, finishing the win with 17 points and 11 rebounds. 

Darius Garland finished the game with 16 points and seven assists, and to close the Cavs’ headliners, Evan Mobley finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

The San Antonio Spurs did not go away in the game, withstanding many of the Cavs’ runs. The star of the Spurs’ effort was Keldon Johnson, Johnson finished the game with 25 points, two rebounds, and four assists. 

All of the starting five for the Spurs scored over double-digit points. Including an 18-point effort for Malaki Branham. Brahman was the first-round draft pick out of Ohio State, the first first-round pick out of Ohio State since D’Angelo Russell. 

Keita Bates-Diop finished the game with 14 points for the Spurs, six rebounds, and two assists. 

The Cavs next game is on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers are one game ahead of the Cavs in the seedings in the east. The last time the Cavs played the 76ers the game was played in Cleveland in November, with the Cavs winning in a route by the final score of 113-85. 

With a win on Wednesday, the Cavs will hold the three spot in the east going into the break. Having the Cavs winning both games against the 76ers.

It will be a test for the Cavs to see how they play. Last year the Cavs struggled against the 76ers. 

The game on Wednesday will be the final game before the all-star break with over a week off in between games. The next game is being played on the following Thursday against the Nuggets.
