Coming off one of the toughest losses of the season in New York on Tuesday night the Cavs headed to Houston to face the 11-win Houston Rockets.

This was a special day for the franchise it was the birthday of Issac Okoro who turned 22 today. As well as Darius Garland’s birthday who turned 23 today.

Then before the game, Donovan Mitchell was named an all-star starter today, the All-Star game will be played in Mitchell’s former city of Utah.

The Cavs opened the game to a slow start then turned the jets on late in the first quarter, they went on a 13-3 run in the first quarter and were up 37-25 at the end of the first quarter, and the Cavaliers did not look back. At one point, the Cavs were up by 30 against the young Houston Rockets.

The Cavs ended up winning tonight’s game 113-95 for the team’s 30th win of the season to cap off a special day for the franchise.

Garland on his birthday was the stand-out player of the game overall for the Cavs, he finished with 26 points and 9 assists. Including making five threes in this game.

The Cavs could have dominated the game without Evan Mobley, Mobley is continuing to grow over the last week, tonight finishing with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds.

A surprise performance from Cavs bench player Dean Wade. Wade has not been healthy for the last couple of months, and tonight he showed his importance to the team. Wade finished with 15 points and made four three-pointers.

The Rockets from the 13-3 run the Cavs went on never were able to get back in the game. It was a sluggish performance from the worst team in the league. An empty and quiet arena. The Cavs scored over 20 points off turnovers.

Jalen Green struggled tonight only scoring six points. And only making two shots from the floor.

The standout for the Rockets tonight was the bench player Tari Eason, scoring 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Cavs continue this mini three-game road trip tomorrow on a back-to-back against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder is having a bounce-back year, although the Thunder are two games under.500, at 23-25, they are fighting for the final spot in the play-in tournament for the western conference.

The status of Mitchell is unknown, as he continues to deal with the groin injury he suffered a week and a half ago and reaggravated on Tuesday.
