by The Brunswick Blue Devils built a big lead early and held on late to defeat the Medina Bees 44-36.
The Blue Devils got off to a hot start in the first quarter, scoring 20 points while holding Medina to only seven.
The Blue Devils found success through both the air and on the ground, with Quarterback #14 Connor Jamison contributing a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown. He was tonight’s player of the game.
Medina had a touchdown from running back #34 Gavin Ballok. Medina Quarterback #10 Adam Barr connected with the Bees’ receivers throughout the quarter, eventually helping Medina get on the scoreboard and make it a 20-7 game after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw both offenses continue to produce. Medina #10 Adam Barr threw two touchdown passes. Medina’s defense also came up with an interception on a Brunswick passing attempt. Despite Medina’s offensive production, Brunswick continued to maintain its advantage. Quarterback #14 Connor Jamison added another touchdown pass to #4 Anthony Gamboa, to help the Blue Devils extend their lead.
Medina made a major push before halftime, successfully converting two onside kicks to give the Bees additional opportunities. The comeback attempt helped Medina cut into the deficit, but Brunswick still led 27-20 at halftime.
The third quarter belonged to Brunswick. The Blue Devils pulled away with another strong offensive performance, as #14 Connor Jamison scored another rushing touchdown and also contributed a touchdown pass. Brunswick’s receivers, including #13, #4, #12, and #21, made several catches to keep the offense moving.
Medina struggled to find the end zone in the third quarter, and Brunswick took a 44-20 advantage into the final quarter. With the game appearing to be out of reach, Medina refused to go away.
The Bees continued to battle in the fourth quarter, getting contributions from their backup Quarterback, #15 Patrick Kaden. Medina added 16 points in the final quarter to make the game interesting late. Brunswick was unable to add to its third-quarter total, but the 24-point advantage they had built proved to be enough.
The Blue Devils were able to hold on for the 44-36 victory. Although Medina fell short in the end, the Bees’ second-half fight kept the game competitive until the end. After trailing 20-7 following the first quarter and 27-20 at halftime, Medina continued to battle and outscored Brunswick in the final quarter.
