All three phases of the Cleveland Browns team played well today and it led to a dominant 40-25 victory in Baltimore. The win sends the Browns into a tie for first place with the Ravens who are also at 2-2 in what appears to be a two team race this season in the AFC North.

The Browns needed to establish a run game and also force turnovers on defense if they were going to be successful, and they did exactly that.

Nick Chubb finished with a big day, tallying up 165 yards on 20 carries, also scoring 3 times. The Browns defense forced three turnovers and held Baltimore to a season low in yards from scrimmage.

Baker Mayfield took a lot of heat this week from several media outlets, and also other players around the league. He didn’t let it affect him as he too had his best effort of the young season. Mayfield went 20 of 30 passing for 342 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception on a route in which Jarvis Landry gave up on.

We can’t be too hard on Landry however as he had a monster day. Landry finished with 167 yards on 8 catches, but did leave the game with a concussion. It will be crucial not to lose Landry long term as there is no guarantee on getting Hollywood Higgins back anytime soon.

Damian Ratley was awful today with several penalties and drops. The Browns will get Antonio Callaway back next week off suspension however.

The biggest reason behind the Browns win today, and perhaps the most encouraging sign is that they answered every Ravens score almost immediately.

Down 7-0 with 1:55 to go in the first half, the Ravens Lamar Jackson hit Miles Boykin in the back of the endzone, wide open to tie the game.

The Browns would not fold, instead answer right away with a great two-minute drive. They even converted a fourth and short. They would have to settle for a field goal, but it was still a promising sign as they led 10-7 at the half.

The trend of answering Ravens scores continued in the second half. After the Ravens started the third quarter by tying the game with a field goal, the Browns wasted no time in getting the lead back.

A slick 59-yard launch to Ricky Seals Jones would set up the 14-yard Nick Chubb touchdown run to give the Browns a 17-10 lead.

The Browns would build on that lead as the quarter came to a close with another Nick Chubb touchdown run. This time from 2 yards to make it 24-10 as the quarter came to a close.

The Ravens would strike quickly in the fourth quarter and also convert a two-point conversion to make it 24-18. Before anyone could get nervous about the lead only being 6 points, the Browns once again showed incredible heart and determination by answering the touchdown with one of their own immediately.

A thunderous 88 yard touchdown sprint by Nick Chubb took the wind out of the Ravens sales and all but sealed up the victory.

At 30-18, the lead was only 12 points, but the momentum was clearly with the brown and orange. Mayfield and the Browns would not take their foot off the gas, forcing another Ravens turnover, and converting it into points.

The Browns would build the lead to 40-18 with under two minutes to play, as Ravens fans headed for the exits.  The Browns never tralied in the game.  The Browns also won the turnover battle 3-1.  OBJ only had 2 catches for 20 yards and the Browns still dominated on the road.
