Britton Willard is a 6th grader at North Olmsted Middle School and is finishing up his 5th season of wrestling. He began in 2019 with the North Olmsted Youth Wrestling Program and won sectionals in his weight bracket for NO. In 2020, Covid shut down all public sport programs but CYOs were allowed to continue. This young man wasn’t detoured as his passion led him to find Lutheran West Wrestling Club.
Britton has continued with Lutheran West and flourished under the caring, coaching direction of Coach DJ Vondruska and Coach Jacob Ressler. During his time with Vondruska and LW, Britton achieved BWA (Buckeye Wrestling Association) League Champion status in his weight groups of 49, 52, 60 and 64 pounds in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively.
Britton was the first in LW history to win a championship. On Feb 18, 2024, Britton became the BWA Leagues first 4-time League Champion winning the 64lb, 16-man bracket.
BWA consists of teams throughout Ohio. Approximately 51 Teams were represented at the championship that took place Feb 18, 2024 in Austintown, OH at Austintown Fitch High School. Wrestlers needs to quality for an invite to the Championship by placing in the top 4 in their weight bracket at their respective sectional event.
Britton Willard symbolizes everything right with youth sports and youth wrestling. Hardwork, combined with heart and passion, have led him to big things already, with an incredibly bright future to come!
