Bellator 221 from Chicago is this Saturday night and appears to be a loaded main card.
We will have a championship defense from Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler as well as the second pro fight for Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swaggar in the WWE.
Let’s get right to it, with some quick predicts on the action to come.
Michael Chandler defends his Bellator Lightweight Championship against Patricio Freire
Since losing his title last year to Brent Primus with a freak leg injury, Chandler has bounced back to win three straight fights. Including reclaiming his championship with a convincing decision win over Primus his last time out.
Freire will be doing battle with one of the very best in the Lightweight game. This will be Freire toughest opponent to date, his previous biggest challenge was a few years back against Benson Henderson, and he lost.
Prediction – Chandler by decision
Douglas Lima vs Michael Page
Lima is one of the very best in the welterweight game and will look to continue his dominance Saturday night against Page. Lima has won 9 of his last 11, with his only two losses coming against stellar competition in Ben Askren and current Champion Rory McDonald. Page is no joke himself, and has began his career on a 14-0 tear. He is knocking out foes and taking numbers while doing it.
Prediction – Page by 3rd round knockout
Aj McKee vs Pat Curran
McKee is unbeaten and on his way up through the ranks rising quickly. Curran is a journeyman with no real dangers to his attack. Look for McKee to cruise in this one.
Prediction – McKee by round one submission
Jake Hager vs TJ Jones
Not much is known about Jones, and this is only Hagers second fight. Normally, a fight like this would be jerking the curtain at a local indy show. However with Hagers nameworthy recognition and incredible pedigree, this will be no the main card of Bellator 221. Hager appears to be the first real pro wrestling threat to do something in MMA since Brock Lesnar 10 years ago.
Prediction – Hager by second round submission
Lima with the KO!!
