Avon Lake RB Gage Duesler Wins Week 10 Jenny’s Old Fashioned Popcorn Player of the Week

Jenny’s Old-Fashioned Popcorn and KEE On Sports would like to congratulate Gage Duesler of Avon Lake for winning the Week 10 Player of the Week award.

In the closest vote of all time, Gage Duesler took 5 of 7 staff votes, to narrowly defeat Brandt Eckerfield for this week’s player of the week vote. Gage had 5 staff votes, while Brandt had 1 staff vote and the 30% fan vote.  Jake Paltani took the remaining 10% of the staff vote.

Gage – 50%

Brandt – 40%

Jake – 10%

Gage Duesler overcame two costly first half fumbles, to rebound and have a gigantic game helping to lead the Shoremen to a 31-7 victory. Duesler finished with 169 yards and 3 touchdowns on 18 hard fought carries.

His performance was more than just carrying the ball however as Duesler made several excellent blocks tonight in max protection that gave Michael Corbo plenty of time to throw.  It is the little things that don’t show up in the box score that win State Championships.

That is why this Shoremen team is so good, they do the small things well and it leads to win after win. They play team ball, they don’t worry about stats and headlines, they worry about wins and that is why they succeed!

Gage and Avon Lake will look to keep their 9-game winning streaking rolling in round one of the OHSAA playoffs this weekend as they host Maple Heights.
