Avon, OH – The Eagles came out victorious in the Silver Rail Rivalry and completed their perfect season by defeating the Shoremen of Avon Lake by a score of 45 to 0.

The Eagles got the ball to start the game and had a promising drive going as senior running back Jakorian Caffey rushed 38 yards to put the Eagles into prime scoring position but the Shoremen defense kept their composure as they held the Eagles to just a field goal when junior kicker Owen Warrick connected from 24 yards out to put the hometown eagles up first by a score of 3 to 0.

After a Shoremen punt, the Eagles continued their success alive when quarterback Nolan Good aired one out to wide receiver Cole Kepner for 41 yards. The Shoremen defense helped the Eagles continue their drive when the Shoremen committed a defensive pass interference penalty. On the next play, the Eagles found paint when junior running back Tyler Kauffmann ran from 12 yards out and after the converted extra point by Warrick to put the Eagles up 10 to 0.

After another Shoremen punt, the Eagles continued to take control on their next possession. Good connected with sophomore Cole Barr for a bomb of 49 yards to stretch the Eagle lead to 17 to 0 after an extra point by Warrick. The Shoremen could not get a single thing going as they had to settle for another punt. Avon did not take their foot off the peddle as Kauffmann found paint again when he rushed for a 73-yard touchdown run and after a successful Warrick point after attempt they Eagles lead 24 to 0.

The Shoremen continued to struggle as junior quarterback Alex Affolter was intercepted by sophomore linebacker Ryan Stolarski. The Shoremen defense rebounded though as they forced the Eagles to turn the ball over on downs after a holding penalty. The Shoremen tried to get something going as they turned to junior quarterback Owen Fach, but the time ran out and we headed to the second half with the Eagles up 24 to 0.

The Shoremen did get the ball to start the second half but Fach was ultimately intercepted by defensive back Carson Canning. The Eagles capitalized on this turnover by Fach when Caffey found paint from a yard out and Warrick increased the lead 31 to 0 after his extra point.

Things got even worse for the Shoremen to start the final quarter as the Eagles defense got a 35-yard scoop and score by linebacker Owen Garcia and after another successful Warrick point after attempt, the Eagles led 38 to 0. On the next Shoremen drive, The Eagle defense didn’t let up as they forced a fumble and it was recovered by senior Luke Vo.

The Eagles decided to bring in senior quarterback Tommy Weitzel in at quarterback. The Eagles piled it on as sophomore running back Cam Wendell rushed 17 yards to the end zone and the final tally was Warrick converted the extra point to increase the lead to 45 to 0.

The players of the game are both in favor of the Eagles. The first one is senior running back Jakorion Caffey as he rushed 18 times for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. The other player of the game goes to the entire Eagles defense as they forced the Shoremen to have a negative total in rushing yard, just 31 yards in passing and they forced 9 fumbles but recovered 2 along with 2 interceptions and not to mention a shutout.
