The Midview defense locked down the Avon Eagles high flying attack to build a 9-0 lead after one and then extend it to 20-1 at the break.  This was part of an impressive Middie effort that saw them capture the 46-16 victory.  The Eagles had been soaring all season long on offense, so this was a true testament to the commitment Midview has on defense.

The Middies were led by Meng with 18 and Olivia DiFranco with 12.

Both teams came out shooting ice cold as the game didn’t see it’s first points until only 3:49 remained in the opening quarter when a DiFranco three ball broke the scoring draught.  Moments later a Meng putback made it 5-0. Baskets by Grace Seymour and Meng made it 9-0 after one.  The basket by Meng came at the buzzer.    Meng does a tremendous job playing both ends of the court and staying back to play defense when there is a chance for a steal or any action.

Midview maintained control in the second quarter as they methodically built the lead up to 20 – 0.  The Avon scoring draught finally snapped as they got their first point of the game on a foul shot from Abby Owens with 42.9 seconds to go in the first half.

Meng began the scoring from the paint in the second half about two minutes into the action as once again both teams came out a bit cold to start the half. Avon didn’t get their first field goal of the game until Madigan O’Leary sunk one from long range with 3:51 to play in the third quarter to make it 26-4.  The Middies went on to cruise from there.
