Alexa Schwerha Named First Female Play By Play Commentator In Company History

Vince – What are you most looking forward to this High School Football season?

Alexa – I’m most looking forward to being in the center of the action for high school sports, and bringing highlights to some great hometown areas. But, I’m also excited for the opportunity to learn and better my skill both in written content, as well as in broadcast.

Vince – What games can we expect to see you at?

Alexa – Returning to my own hometown to cover the local schools in Columbiana County would be an incredible opportunity that I am really looking forward to, but I would also love to be able to interact with some of the schools in the Kent area, as well!

Vince – Why is High School Football so special in this part of the state?

Alexa – Football in Northeastern Ohio is something that everyone should experience at least once, and we are lucky enough to be able to live it every fall, every year.

When Friday night comes and the lights turn on, everyone crowds the stands to watch their hometown high school team do battle on the grass, putting to the test every obstacle, challenge, and sacrifice that they’ve endured throughout their summer training.

It’s work that is not unnoticed by the fans, but rather gives the whole town something to take pride in. High School football is a tradition unlike no other in Northeastern Ohio that dates back generations, and in a way, it’s like a mark of identity.

At my alma mater they always say, “Once a Beaver, always a Beaver,” and that is something that is applicable across the scale.

Vince – No one can do it alone, and you remain incredibly humble no matter your success.  What can you attribute that to?

Alexa – I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for every opportunity that I have received while on the team of KEE On Sports, and it has opened doors that I never imagined being available while in my early years of college.

I owe a lot to Mr. George Phillips for setting me on this path, and to Mr. Vince McKee for taking me aboard, and definitely to the readers who continue to click on my articles.

The community support from both the fans and from the site has been tremendous, and it just fuels my passion for this work!

There is no place that I would rather be than behind my keyboard and at the games, and it is because of the readers that I can continue to live my passion each and every day.
