ALARMING Stats From Cleveland Browns 33-17 Loss To Dallas

Deshaun Watson went 24 of 45 for 169 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Let’s face the fact folks, most of those completions came in garbage time after the game was already decided.  Still, 24 receptions only netted 169 yards as the Browns had no downfield game. That is an average of 7 yards per catch, not going to get the job done!

Jerome Ford held to 44 yards on 12 carries.

None of us expect Ford to be the next Nick Chubb, but he must do better then that.  A huge day from Ford was the only thing that was going to keep the Cowboys defense honest and refrain from over blitzing.  Sadly, the Browns never got it going, and jus like Watson, most of those yards for Ford came during garbage time or in obvious passing situations when the Browns decided to run it instead.

Ford is meant to be a third down back and a pass catcher out of the backfield.  He did a little of that today with 6 catches, sadly, they only went for 25 yards for an incredibly low average of 4 yards.  They were basically runs. Chubb is set to return to the team Week 5, and it cannot get here soon enough.

Deshaun Watson was sacked 6 times.

I realize his line is banged up, but dear lord man, throw the ball. Several times wideouts were open and he just couldn’t make up his mind quick enough.  Watson is way to quick to pull the ball down and try to run.  He took off 5 more times today with 4 of those being times he had a man open.

Jerry Jeudy was held to 3 catches for 25 yards.

The Browns big offseason addition was supposed to be Jerry Jeudy.  Despite a great tip toe catch for a touchdown, he didn’t do much of anything else.  The Browns need a solid number two receiver for this game plan to work, especially if David Njoku is out long-term with the ankle injury. David Bells needs to be promoted to the main roster right away.

Elijah Moore finished with 9 yards on 3 catches.

People will claim Watson is the biggest trade bust of the Andrew Berry era, but Watson has NOTHING on Elijah Moore who has been dreadful in his time in Cleveland.  I’ll say it again, the Browns have an absolute stud in David Bell, if they would just let him play, and throw him the ball!

1 first half first down.

The Browns needed Watson to get off to a fast start, and it was anything but.  He was hideous in the first half as Watson went 7 of 15 for 36 yards with 0 TD and 1 INT.  The Browns only earned 1 first down and went 0 for 6 third downs.

64 Penalty Yards on 11 accepted flags.

It was week one, so I somewhat expected sloppy play.  But for a guy like Myles Garrett, he may lead the franchise in sacks, but he also leads the franchise in penalty yards.  Garrett is good for 2-3 offsides calls per game.  How does this continue to occur week in and week out?  Garrett is approaching the record very soon…  He has 8 seasons in the league, and continues to commit the most boneheaded mistakes, week after week.

1 Let’s Go Cowboys Chant in the late Fourth Quarter

The Browns were dominant at home last year, going 8-1.  They will need to do that again if they have any chance at the playoffs this season.  It is a terrible look to start the year with Cowboy fans overrunning your house and then mocking you at the end of the game.

ONE LAST BIT OF FOOD FOR THOUGHT ON THE 3RD AND FINAL PAGE TO THIS ARTICLE.
