UFC Fight Night Moicano vs Nolan
Julian Erosa wins his retirement fight in just 1:31 over Lee Jeong-yeong.
Take – A great way to go out if your Erosa and most men and women lose their retirement fight. You almost never see a competitor go out on top, let alone that dominant!
Lucia Szabova defeats Tainara Lisboa via 3rd TKO
Take – Szabova had the fight in the bag on points but didn’t let it go to the judges. She wanted to finish it and I have nothing but respect for that. Go for the decisive win when you can.
Joseph Kropschot defeats Nick Klein by Inverted triangle armbar.
Take – There is a finish you may see only a few times a year. Kudos for Kropschot for being creative in this one. Not sure how Klein allowed himself to be so vulnerable but once he was locked into it, he was done.
Farman Hasanov and Theodor both lose by doctor stoppage.
Take – Good for the doctor in this one. It’s not often that you see more then one fight end by doctor stoppage, but this guy was all over it tonight and put safety first. No one seemed to object as both stoppages made sense.
Mickey Gall loses again, this time to Zachary Reese by 29-27 decision across the board.
Take – Here’s the thing, what Gall was doing in his fight is beyond me to begin with. Gall is now 7-8 lifetime in MMA and has lost 5 straight fights. His last win came in 2017 and it appears that the next one, if ever, will not be in the UFC. Considering 3 of his 7 wins came against fake fighters such as CM Punk, Sage Northcutt and Mike Jackson, it doesn’t exactly speak volumes for any argument for him to be on this elevated level of competition.
Francis Marshal misses weight by 3 pounds and then loses narrow split decision to Dakota Hope.
Take – I’m not sure where his focus was in this one. Marshal started strong with a dominant first round but then appeared to take the next two rounds off. Marshal lacked focus and killer instinct in this one and it cost him the decision. Marshal needed the win in the prelim main event and came up flat.
Luana Santos bounced back from a tough first round to defeat Yana Santos by decision
Take – Not much to say other then once Luna Santos woke up and starting to her caliber in the second round, Yana never had a chance as Luna was on her game. Not sure why she was so sluggish in the first round but won the final two decisively.
Ode’ Osbourne rallies but comes up short in UD loss to Cody Durden
Take – Durden appeared to control the first two rounds with ease before nearly getting finished late into the third on his back. He built a leads and then put it into a deep sleep instead of going for the finish. That is not what the UFC likes to see, despite the win. It was obvious.
Jacobe Smith s through Randy Brown with ease on a 30-27 UD
Take – It wasn’t flashy but Smith continues to stay dominant and improved his record to 14-0 and 6-0 in the UFC. He is a wrestler and doesn’t try to hide it, eventually he will need to ad submissions to his game. Tonight, the ground game was enough to get it done and win easily.
Tom Nolan defeats Renato Moicano by 3rd round TKO
Take – Wow, Nolan was getting dominated on the ground for the first round and a half until a controversial stand up halfway through the second round lit a fire in him. Nolan did the most he could with a second chance on his feet and put the pedal to the medal. Once Nolan got that restart he went full tilt and Moicano couldn’t handle it. A barrage of knees and elbows by Nolan were far too much for Moicano to handle. Nolan will be a force in this division!
