Silver City FC Joins the NPSL

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Silver City FC has joined the league.  The club will begin play in the 2027 season.

“The NPSL is proud to welcome a team to North Georgia, further strengthening the league’s presence and expanding the NPSL brand in a key market,” NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera said. “The ownership group brings a strong combination of business acumen, a commitment to philanthropy, and a passion for the game.  These are qualities that position the club for long-term success as they create a lasting impact in their community.”

The team is led by Founder and CEO Russell Hewitt, Co-Founder Tiffany Hewitt, Operations Manager Chris Bunker, and Treasurer Brett Godwin.

Russell is a lifelong Forsyth County resident and entrepreneur.  Having previously worked in financial technology, Russell brings new life to football club ownership.  He graduated from University of Alabama with a degree in Management Information Systems.  With the excitement brought to the country by the World Cup, Russell became inspired to continue giving the community the sport it rallied so hard behind.  Tiffany graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Biology.  Although not from a football background, Tiffany brings a very studious and philanthropic approach to Silver City FC.

Bunker currently works in sales for a software company that returns time to K-12 students.  He graduated with a BBA in economics from Georgia Southern University, where he helped found the Armstrong Football Club.  Soccer has been a part of his life since he was five, and building Armstrong taught him a lot about leadership and teamwork that still shows up in how he works today.

Godwin is a former youth soccer coach with over 10 years of experience.  He has his USSF B License and has worked as a youth coach at Atlanta United FC and Atlanta Fire United. He also spent seven years leading varsity boys programs at Mill Creek High School and Denmark High School.  He played four years of Division I soccer at Presbyterian College and is a local product of Lambert High School.

Silver City FC is Forsyth County’s first senior men’s football club.  Silver City FC exists to provide a real competitive platform for north Georgia’s best players and a fun and inviting environment for supporters who love the game.  Based in Cumming, GA along the GA-400 corridor, Silver City FC draws its identity from the historic Silver City settlement and the north Georgia landscape that defines the community.  The club’s colors, Prussian blue and metallic gold, reflect Lake Lanier and the Appalachian ridgelines visible from the heart of Forsyth.

“Our expectations for the first season are simple: we want to bring our community together,” Russell Hewitt said. “A successful season to us means bringing together a passionate group of like-minded individuals that can make North Georgia proud.  Winning matters, but what’s most important is building out a passionate community.”

Silver City FC will play its home matches at South Forsyth High School.  Featuring the largest field in the county, SFHS provides the best gameday experience Forsyth County has to offer. Located just off GA-400, not only is SFHS accessible, but it is located right in the heart of a passionate group of sports enthusiasts.
