CLEVELAND, OH – Brazil looks ready for a World Cup run after an impressive performance vs Egypt today in a 2-1 win.  Quite frankly the margin could have been wider if not for a masterful performance from Mostafa Shobeir of Egypt who saved 10 of 11 shots on target, with most of them having a serious chance to get past him.

The pressure was constant from Brazil early as they finished with 11 shots and dominated the time of attack.  The final number was only 51%, but if you watched you could see just how much they controlled the pace and action of it.  They held Egypt to only 1 shot on target all game.

It took exactly 7 minutes of action for Brazil to find the back of the net as Bruno Guimarães had a clean look and struck one dead center past the Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir.  It was a beautiful one on one look with little traffic for Guimarães to negotiate as he let it rip to start the scoring.

Egypt was not fazed one bit and came right back with numbers as the Brazil goalkeeper came out of the box a little too far and got burned with a left leg strike to the back right corner of the net.  The equalizer came in the 11th from Mostafa Ziko.

Brazil had a great chance moments later with numbers and sent one sailing from the top right corner of the goal but the Egypt keeper Shobeir threw two hands up to secure it and keep it even.  Both teams were playing ultra-aggressive in the first 20 minutes of this one.

Brazil went the distance of the pitch in seconds on a breakaway in the 25th but once again Mostafa Shobeir stepped up huge in the clutch to deflect and keep it tied. Brazil had numbers again in the 28th but couldn’t get it past Shobeir who was working hard to keep it equal.

Brazil had a corner kick to start the 33rd but it sailed far and they couldn’t even get a chance on goal off of it.  This moved them to 0 for 2 on corner kick chances in the first as they simply couldn’t get anything working with them. Shobeir continued to play out of his mind as Brazil had another sure thing goal stopped with a brilliant kick save as he was a wall in the 39th.

After 4 minutes of extra’s to conclude the first, it was tied 1-1.

Brazil wasted almost no time in the second half to break the tie when Endrick scored and put them back on top.  They had several chances to increase the lead the rest of the game but Egypt kept them at bay.  However, they couldn’t tie Brazil and eventually fell to them 2-1.
