by Donovan Mitchell made history tonight with 39 second half points to lead Cleveland past Detroit 112-103, tying their best of seven second round series at 2 games each. Mitchell finished with 43 on the night as his surge helped spark a 22-0 run by Cleveland to start the second half. It was an epic third quarter that fans will be talking about for many years as the Cavaliers erased a 56-52 halftime deficit to bolt ahead 74-56 lead before Detroit could even realize what happened.
After a miserable first two games of the series, under heavy criticism James Harden appears to be playing a bit better as he had a rock solid game four with 24 points and 11 assists while only turning the ball over twice. That proved to be the difference as the Cavaliers we smart with the ball and helped build a lead because of it. Mobley also did what he does best and that is effect the paint with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
Perhaps the biggest key to the win was the defense of Cleveland as well. They held Duncan Robinson to only 4 points as well as limiting Ausar Thompson 4 as well. Cade Cunningham did what he could to carry Detroit but his 19 points weren’t nearly enough as was the 16 coming from Tobias Harris. Ironically enough, the biggest buckets came from former Cavalier Caris LeVert who had a huge game off the bench with 24. Paul Reed scored 15 off the bench as well.
Game 5 of this Eastern Conference Semi-Final Series will take place Wednesday night in Detroit.
