Elyria Pioneers Defeat Magnificat Blue Streaks 7-0 Behind Brilliant Pitching Performance from Braylee Beckham

The Elyria Pioneers cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Magnificat Blue Streaks behind a dominant pitching performance from freshman Braylee Beckham. Beckham threw 7 scoreless frames, striking out 13, and only giving up 3 hits.

The Pioneers were in control from the start. Hannah Quayle got the scoring started with an RBI single in the 1st. Kaedence Niemeyer then made it 2-0 with a run-scoring groundout. After a wild pitch that scored Quayle, it was 3-0 Pioneers in the 1st.

Back-to-back bunts and a wild pitch to lead off the top of the 4th made it 4-0 Elyria. RBI singles from Camille Dunlap and Lexi Poulus then extended the lead to 6-0. Elyria added their final run in the 6th when Quayle scored on a Magnificat throwing error.

With Beckham’s brilliance on the mound, Quayle going 3-4 with a walk, and Poulus’ 2-3 night with a free pass as well, it was the freshman leading the way for the Pioneers once again. The Pioneers only struck out one time as a team and seemed to always come through with the clutch hit.

Elyria coach Keenan Williams loved his team’s approach at the plate in this game. He said after the game “today was very encouraging, we’re trying to have an aggressive mindset at the plate. Going up there, finding our pitch and swinging at strikes is when we’re at our best.”
