CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Cavaliers continued their strong start to the series, taking a 2-0 lead over the Toronto Raptors. After taking care of Game 1, Cleveland came into this one with the same mindset and never really let things get out of their control.
From the start, the Cavs looked like the more controlled team. Cleveland didn’t rely on just one player to carry the load; instead, it was a full team effort that made the difference. The ball was moving, and everyone was making unselfish plays, eventually leading to the 115-105 win.
Instead of forcing tough shots or trying to do too much, the Cavs stayed patient on offense. Possessions were not rushed, and the extra passes kept leading to open shooters. Their play made it really hard for the Raptors to defend.
The Cavs played amazing team offense, but Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, and Evan Mobley were the top performers. Mitchell finished the night with 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. His ability to score and distribute the ball at this level can be dangerous for any team. Harden had 28 big points, and Mobley had an impressive 25 points and 8 rebounds. This Cavs trio was playing at an elite level.
On the defensive side, the Cavs held their ground. They made things very difficult for Toronto, forcing some tough shots and limiting opportunities. They held Brandon Ingram to only 7 points, shooting 3-15 on the floor, and causing him to have 5 turnovers. When the Raptors would try to get back into the game, the Cavs had a quick answer.
The biggest takeaway from this game is the fact that the Cavs can play with many different groups on the floor. Every group that played together tonight had the same mindset. Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson has trust in every player on the roster, which is a great thing.
With this win, the Cavs now head on the road with a 2-0 series lead, putting pressure on Toronto heading into Game 3. Taking both games at home is exactly what the Cavs needed to do, and now the focus shifts to keeping that same energy in Toronto.
Toronto will be looking to bounce back, with the series shifting to their home court. Game 3 is always a big one, and the Raptors will be looking to respond. For Cleveland, they will have to stay consistent and keep playing the same unselfish style that’s worked so far.
Game 3 is set for Thursday night in Toronto, where the Cavs will try to keep their momentum going and take an even bigger step toward advancing to the second round.
