The Jackson Polar Bears win 69-54 against the Broadview-Brecksville Heights Lady Bees

The first quarter was controlled by the Polar Bears with 20 points scored in total for the team. Ashley Helle, junior on the Polar Bears, scored 11 of those points herself. Helle was at the forefront of many rebounds, and was given those chances to take control of the court. Throughout the rest of the game, Helle scored a total of 22 points. Another key player that showed up for the Polar Bears during the first quarter was junior Maddie Lepley. Lepley played great offense, and scored 15 points in total. It was an uneventful first quarter for the Bees, and they went into the second quarter trailing the Polar Bears 23-7.

Although the defense for the Bees was having some difficulty keeping up with the offensive plays by the Polar Bears, Caiya La, junior on the Bees, managed to put up a lot of points. La started off the second quarter with two points, and then scored four more throughout the rest of the quarter. With a total of 24 points earned for the Bees, La really showed up, and took advantage of what little opportunities there were for the Bees to maintain control of the ball. The Polar Bears were still ahead at the end of half, 35-23.

A rather slow start for the Bees overall in the first half. The numerous turnovers aided in more baskets scored by the Polar Bears. Jackson came out strong, and the drive for the win continued on into the second half of the game.

Caiya La started off the third quarter with two back-to-back two-pointers. However, the Polar Bears quickly responded. Senior Talia Russell, of the Polar Bears, scored her first three points of the game. Russell scored six points total. Jackson continued their hard push on the court. Ashley Perdion, junior on the Bees, scored some points in the quarter. Perdion was able to score eight points total.

As the third quarter drifted into the fourth quarter, the Polar Bears and the Bees both gave it their best effort, yet, the score at the top of the fourth sat at 51-37. The Polar Bears were still in the lead, and stayed in the lead for the entire game. Overall, the Bees inevitably couldn’t seem to keep up with the pace the Polar Bears were setting throughout the game. In the end, the Jackson Polar Bears won 69-54 over the Bees.

Other notable goal scorers of the game; for the Bees, junior Josalyn Hackney, and freshman Preslee Doubler. For the Polar Bears, junior Maddie Dolan, senior Lucia Fuline, and junior Lexi Pizor.
