History Made at 2026 Street League Skateboarding Sydney Event

Press release per Thrill One Media

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – February 15, 2026 – The 2026 Street League Skateboarding (SLS) Championship Tour kicked off in style at a packed Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney Olympic Park, with a raucous crowd witnessing a history-making performance by Japanese phenom, Ginwoo Onodera, who delivered a performance for the ages, achieving a score of 9 or better on every line and single trick attempts.

Since the league launched in 2010, no skater had achieved the milestone of near perfection, until Onodera stepped onto the SLS Sydney course. With Onodera continuing to impress the judges on each attempt, fans and executives were checking the history books to confirm no skateboarder had ever scored a 9 Club on every attempt.

Having already secured the win prior to his last single trick attempt, what is usually known as a victory run had greater meaning, with a near capacity arena cheering in anticipation. Onodera nailed the Bigflip Frontside Boardslide Bigspin on the shotgun rail, clinching his spot in skateboarding history.

The crowd was on their feet as they celebrated a performance which saw line scores of 9.1 and 9.4, followed by single trick scores of 9.1, 9.2, 9.5, 9.0 and 9.2. After his dropped scores, Onodera topped the rankings with a total score of 37.3.

On what was one of the most iconic days in professional skateboarding, the podium was rounded out by fellow 16-year-old, Julian Agliardi (USA) who secured his first SLS podium in second place with a score of 35.5 and Giovanni Vianna (BRA) who took third place with a score of 34.7, with both skaters nailing their final single trick attempts.

The women’s final featured a stacked field, including defending and four-time SLS Super Crown World Champion, Rayssa Leal (BRA) and hometown hero, Chloe Covell (AUS) who has won the previous two editions of SLS Sydney in 2023 and 2024.

It was Leal who opened the season in style, coming back from fifth position after the line scores and making her single tricks count to secure the victory with a total score of 30.1.

Leal narrowly topped Liz Akama (JPN) in second place, with Australia’s Covell registering the only 9 Club of the women’s final with her final attempt to snatch third place.

The stage is now set for the remainder of the 2026 SLS Championship Tour, which will move on to Los Angeles, USA on April 4, 2026 for the SLS Takeover event.
