Two North Olmsted teams meet for the Southwest Suburban Baseball League championship. By Darrin Goats
The Crazy Pandas and North Coast Credit Union met Thursday evening at North Olmsted Park with the Pandas winning 8 to 5 to capture the 14u title.
North Coast grabbed an early 3 to 0 in the top of the first paced by Tommy Gonzalez’s two run double. The Pandas battled back in the bottom part of the first with five runs highlighted by Dylan Goats’s two run single. Gonzalez also homered in the top of the third to even the game at 5-5.
The Pandas came back to score three runs in the bottom of the third inning and never looked back led by Brayden Allain’s base running to take an 8 to 5 lead.
Andrew Wilgus pitched three innings in relief for the Crazy Pandas. The righty allowed three hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking none. Sam Ryan pitched a scoreless fifth inning striking out two.
Summertime and baseball, it doesn’t get any better than that.
