At 21-1 the Strongsville Mustangs girls basketball program is a fine tuned machine running on all cylinders right now as they head into the Valley Forge / Wadsworth bracket later this month. They are considered one of the best teams in the state and a big reason for that is Head Coach Madyson Farnbauch.
She had big shoes to fill when she replaced Dawn Thall back in the Fall of 2022, but she has done so brilliantly. She replaced the well dressed coach and instantly kept the program on the their track upward. Farnbauch never let her foot off the gas and under her watch, the Mustangs have once again become a serious threat to win it all.
It may sound cliche, but when you watch Farnbauch coach it truly is, “business as usual”. You rarely see her get upset or even flustered. Her concretion approach is exactly the right blend for her confident and talented bunch. You rarely see her lose her cool with the refs and always remains focused on making adjustments and taking it one game at a time. She is the kind of coach you want your daughter to play for.
She played her college ball at Wittenberg where she met her husband Corey. She never let go of her love of the game despite having to commit to being a wife, a mommy and now a head coach. She took it all on and has succeeded brilliantly. In fact, her young fiery love for the game and coaching attitude is EXACTLY what this area of the state needs when it comes to girls hoops. No drama, just straight up coaching and winning. A breath of fresh air!
Farnbauch had this to say upon hearing she was winning the award. “It is an honor to receive this award being so young and still new to the heading coaching. I give all my credit to my girls, assistant coaches and family for all the support and love they give me. I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am as a coach without them. Besides my family, this is everything to me and I make sure to put all my energy and focus towards it every time I’m in the gym.”
