by ROCKY RIVER, OH – Tonight, the Lutheran West Lady Longhorns were dominant in their win over the Beachwood Lady Bison. Ava Adya paced Lutheran West with 17 points. The Sophomore Guard also added 5 3-pointers to her tally.
Straight from the jump, the Lady Longhorns got off to a lead. Sophomore Guard Maddie Kandrach took the tip and got right to the basket for 2. She would lead Lutheran West in scoring, with 6 points, in the opening quarter. The Longhorn’s defense was strong all night long as they never trailed in the game.
Holding a 14-6 lead in the 2nd quarter, the Lady Longhorns kept their foot on the gas. Ava Adya found her shot in the period as she outscored Beachwood all by herself. She dropped 11 points in the frame that included three 3-pointers. Lutheran West outscored Beachwood 18-7 in the 2nd to jump out to 32-13 lead at halftime.
The 2nd half saw the same play from the Lady Longhrons. Ball movement on the offensive end led to multiple players scoring in both the 3rd and 4th quarters. Ce Grant got going in the 3rd as she dropped all 8 of her points for the Longhorns in the period.
Nine players were able to tally points for Lutheran West in the victory. Their defense continued its dominance as well as they allowed just 4 points the entire 2nd half. At the final buzzer, the Lady Longhorns came out with a 62-17 victory.
With the win over Beachwood, Lutheran West improves to .500 on the season at 8-8. They will host the Brooklyn Hurricanes (3-13) on Wednesday, January 31st at 6PM.
